Punching Nazis: The Plan To End The Republican Party Excerpt Version | Page 4
It was then that I decided I needed to be more direct in my approach . This book has always been about the acquisition of power . So I changed the name of the book to From Protest to Power . I kept writing this power acquisition blueprint for the American Left . But somewhere between 2018 and today , I decided I needed to call a spade , a spade . The time for collegiality and polite language was gone . I intended to say exactly what the intent of the book was right in the title . And that is when Punching Nazis : The Plan to End the Republican Party was born .
I have had to adjust some of what was originally contained in these pages , although I am proud to say that the blueprint remains . For instance , when I started writing the book , I had an entire chapter devoted to convincing my liberal readers that the Republican Party ( and conservative policy , more broadly ) is evil ; that their social and political dominance is an immediate existential threat to every American . I had a whole section in the book in which I attempted to make this case by using an analogy of how you might treat an invader who comes into your house in the middle of the night . I asked my reader if they would try to reason with and work with the intruder or if they would fight for their lives ? This chapter was necessary because back in 2015 , 2016 , 2017 , not everybody - even liberals - felt threatened existentially by the Republican Party and conservative policies . Calling for them to be rendered powerless sounded radical , extreme , hyperbolic . I needed to ease my liberal readers toward that conclusion . But that was then . And this is now .
