SOMETIMES , IMPORTANT ADVICE COME FROM TRUSTED FRIENDS , and sometimes , it comes from People magazine . Let me explain — my cute husband gave me a subscription to People for the holidays . He knows I used to love to save all my copies up and pass them along to flight attendants while traveling . It made me happy to see them appreciate something like that , and I have often wondered why more people don ’ t pass things along , just like the little free libraries that are popping up everywhere — I love those and always leave books for other people to enjoy . Anyway , I digress ….
I was reading one issue of the magazine recently and saw an article about country music artist Thomas Rhett ( whom I love ) and his sweet family . In the piece , Thomas mentioned that his favorite quote at the moment is , “ Be where your feet are ,” adding , “ I ’ m trying to work on my brain and my feet being in the same place .”
I love that , and I ’ m going to work on doing the same . It ’ s so easy to fall into the habit of endlessly looking ahead and forgetting to live in the here and now , especially during life ’ s challenging seasons . A dear friend and colleague struck a similar chord when they recently shared that they are working on not wishing away the present — I wish it was Friday , I wish my vacation were here , I wish it was fall , etc . These powerful reminders to live in the moment are important for all of us as we work through things in our own time and in our own way . n

Be where your feet are . Be present . Be happy .

And above all else , be kind !
