ISPA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
HELLO ISPA FAMILY .
This month ’ s letter has been difficult to write . As we head into the fall , new complications have emerged in the fight against COVID-19 , and feelings of uncertainty have returned . It ’ s an odd time , because I am certain many of us were looking forward to being able to place the last year and half in the rear-view mirror once and for all , but as we have been reminded repeatedly during that time , some things remain beyond our control .
So , what does all of this mean ? I think we must continue to lean into our ISPA community . There was a time that I thought ISPA was governed by a board and a team of people in Lexington , Kentucky , none of whom had much to do with my daily life in the spa industry . Maybe there are those of you reading this column who felt or feel this way . I hope our efforts during the height of the pandemic proved otherwise — that ISPA and the services we provide are very much relevant to the decisions you make about your business . I also hope you have come to understand that ISPA isn ’ t the Board or the HQ team , it is a collective . It is all of us . So many volunteers have given of their time , knowledge and wisdom over these last 18 months , engaging with ISPA committees and task forces and pouring themselves into supporting us all during some pretty tough days . And they are still doing it .
None of us knows what the future holds . I think the best way to navigate the unknown is to continue to keep our hands on the rope , to work together for the common good of the industry . Become engaged . Stay engaged . Join a volunteer group . See how you can help . Raise your hand when the call goes out . It ’ s the very act of serving and coming together that will see us through these uncertain days and pave the way to a stronger , more resilient industry .
