Politics: Recent white supremacist protest in Virginia leads to three deaths and 35 injuries.

Economics: Betsy Devos has said that talks on tax reform should include the idea of a voucher program that would give private citizens or corporations tax credits in exchange for donations to scholarship organizations that help send children to more expensive schools. Yet critics claim that it will simply work as another tax loophole and help funnel public money to religious organizations.

Culture: Outcry continues as Activist-Athlete Colin Kaepernick seems to be blacklisted from the NFL in spite of his obvious talent and superiority to other hired athletes. His exile has been caused by a backlash to his nonviolent protest against American racism by kneeling during the national anthem, which has garnered some praise, but mostly scorn, especially within the NFL.

Politics: El Chapo, the notorious Mexican drug lord, has hired a private lawyer to replace his public defenders. The lawyer, a Mr Jeffery Lichtman, will have the task of defending one of the world's most wanted criminals.

Economics: As NAFTA talks continue, the uncertainties of how the deal will be re-negotiated has opened the possibilities that Mexican exports could experience a decline

Culture: Hurricane Franklin hit the eastern coast of Mexico, yet luckily dissipated quickly after making land as the mountainous terrain caused it to disintegrate into a mass of thunderstorms over the area.

Politics: Maduro has assembled a national constituent assembly to rewrite the constitution, an election turnout that is said to have been manipulated by at least 1 million votes.

Economy: As tens of thousands of Venezuelans flee their country, whose economy has largely collapses, the Colombian economy is in flux.

Culture: The Catholic bishops of Venezuela have unanimously rejected and condemned Maduro’s July 30th vote as “illegal”.
