Politics: Aldemir Bendine, ex-president of the Banco do Brasil and Petrobras, is arrested for corruption in the investigation of money laundering. During Lula Da Silva´s and Dilma Rouseff’s presidencies he worked for them.

Economics: Labor reforms in Brazil awaken critiques from political opponents after they are approved by Congress.

Culture: Brazilian Jews are repudiating the arrival of Mohsen Araki, an Iraqi cleric who came to give a conference titled “Muslims and the confrontation with radical terrorism”, who is suspected to have a role in attacks in 1992 and 1994.

Politics: The current ruling party of Mexico, the centrist PRI, has placed 3rd in a national poll less than a year before elections, behind the progressive "Morena" party and the center right PAN party.

Economics: After being charged with money laundering, connections to organized crime, and corruption, former Mexican governor Javier Duarte has been extradited back to Mexico after fleeing to Guatemala.

Culture: The State Department is warning tourists that Mexican resorts may be selling substandard/tainted alcohol and to be safe as a result.

Politics: As the first round of elections for Congress nears, political parties such as the PRO, UCR and newer parties such as the Union Ciudadana (headed by ex-president Cristina Kirchner) and 1País let accusations float in the air in a fight for votes.

Economics: Central Bank sells 305 million dollars but can´t avoid the another record value in the currency

change (18,01 ARS = 1USD).

Culture: A man cleans the beaches of small town Pinamar and leaves the trash bags in front of the city hall. He is to pay a fine of over 1,500 dollars and had an inspector visit his restaurant.
