The second annual Food , Arts and Music ( FAM ) Fest will be held at Whispering Pines Park from 5-9 p . m . on Saturday , Feb . 22 . This free , family-friendly event will highlight and honor Black culture through the three key elements of food , art and music .
The annual City Council Winter Workshop is scheduled for Feb . 26-28 .
The household hazardous waste collection day will be held Saturday , March 1 from 8 a . m . to noon at the Public Works Complex at 450 SW Thornhill Drive .
Accomplishments
This year ’ s Citizen Summit was held Feb . 1 and it was another incredible turnout . There were more than 1,000 people who attended , spoke with City staff and community partners , and provided their input . The event is vital to the City ’ s strategic planning process but it also is an invaluable opportunity to have people engage with City staff and get a better understanding of how Port St . Lucie operates .
There was an amazing turnout on January 29 at Skate City as City officials cut the ribbon on the revitalized skating area located in Whispering Pines Park . Skate City closed to skateboarding in 2010 . However , a recent resurgence in interest by local roller and in-line skaters sparked a renewed commitment to breathe new life into the space . The revitalized Skate City is geared toward outdoor roller and inline skating . This is the City of Port St . Lucie ' s first outdoor , public skating rink .
The City of Port St . Lucie has earned the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Award Presentation for Fiscal Year 2024-25 . This marks the 36th consecutive year the City has received this award – recognition of its commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting .
PSLPD officers were guest servers at two different Tip-a-Cop events this past month . On Jan . 10 , Tutto Fresco hosted officers and Special Olympics athletes and they were able to raise $ 4,500 for the Special Olympics . Then , on Jan . 24 , Meating Street Steak and Seafood hosted the event and officers , with the help of Special Olympics athletes , were able to raise an additional $ 3,400 !
