IN SEPTEMBER , ISPA RETURNED TO OUR TOWN HALL SERIES with a great topic . We focused on turning the conversation from the Great Resignation to the Great Attraction . We brought together four exemplary spa and hospitality leaders to discuss what they were doing in their operations that was working to attract and retain talent . Ella Kent ( Sea Island Resort , Georgia ), Jessie Valdez ( Pendry Park City , Utah ), Liz Correa ( The Ritz Carlton , South Beach ) and Ludmilla Milic ( Hotel Washington , Washington D . C .) provided useful insights into their businesses and their approach to handling a job market that seems to be ever evolving . What was uplifting about the conversation was that we turned the narrative of this time upside down . Instead of focusing on what they didn ’ t have — enough staff , enough supplies , enough time to catch a breath — the conversation shifted to what was working within their operations . As it turns out , there was a lot to talk about that was good .
It ’ s time for us to have a Great Reset . We are all living with the realities of life post pandemic . We ’ ve talked about it often and with great passion . Now we need to focus on the long term and that begins by shifting our mindset to what is good in our businesses and build out those positives as we lay new foundations for the spa industry of the future .
What can you do to keep your head up ? Keep attending Town Halls and reading Pulse , because both are great resources of information in real time and can keep you connected to the industry and to one another . Participate in one of the many Job Fairs hosted around the country . Join a task force when the call goes out . There is so much positive work and productive conversations happening in our Resource Partner Task Force and our Collaborate Group . The ISPA HQ Team is busily planning for the 2023 ISPA Conference in May . The energy of all these groups is forward-thinking and positive as they all work in concert to advance the industry and support our members .
