I ADORE FRESH FLOWERS and constantly have them around the house . They are the rewards of the beautiful garden my cute husband planted when we settled on our property . Over the years , it has spread naturally as each flower sends seeds into the wind . I love how this cycle of renewal allows the garden to thrive ever greater over time — and the ISPA membership does the same ! Especially around Conference , when folks are all trying to help and support one another as this young but mighty industry continues to flourish . The Godmother of Spa , Deborah Szekely , wasn ’ t able to join us last year because she was celebrating her 100th birthday and , sadly , she will miss Conference again this year as she has the honor of watching her grandson graduate from college . She promises to be back with us next year and we cannot wait .
Speaking of planting seeds that multiply and flourish : We recently lost a beloved spa industry icon , the visionary founder of Canyon Ranch , Mel Zuckerman . I am confident Mr . Zuckerman touched every ISPA member in one way or another . Nearly everyone has a Canyon Ranch story , as the legendary spa helped to shape and grow thousands of careers over the years .
Through their kindness and leadership , Mel Zuckerman and Deborah Szekely planted seeds that have spread throughout the industry , nurturing all of our lives and careers .
