2021 ISPA Innovate Award Winners

THE 2021 ISPA INNOVATE AWARD RECIPIENTS have been announced ! Winners in each of the three award categories — Business Practices , Technology and Philanthropy — demonstrated the remarkable level of creativity and adaptability displayed by ISPA member organizations as they responded to the COVID-19 pandemic . The award submission window was open for ISPA members from early December through January 12 , 2021 , and submissions were voted on by the ISPA membership in March .
ISPA is beyond excited to congratulate the amazing award-winning companies whose innovations inspired and impressed the ISPA member voting base . In addition to the submission summaries below , you can find more extensive profiles on each of the 2021 ISPA Innovate Award winners in an upcoming issue of Pulse .

Business Practices Winner : Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts ■ Lead with Care Global Operating Guidelines Developed in concert with Johns Hopkins Medicine , Four Seasons ’ Lead with Care is a comprehensive collection of guidelines and resources established to create a safe environment for guests , staff and community while promoting a culture of compassion , empathy and excellence . The program has allowed Four Seasons ’ global properties to stay aligned and committed to safely returning to business and provide the level of care for which it has long been known . Guest response to the initiative has been overwhelmingly

positive , and employee engagement and retention have outperformed expectations .

Winner : Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group ■ Inner Strength — Outer Strength Online Course

This four-week online course was designed to boost the well-being of Mandarin Oriental colleagues amid the difficulty of the pandemic . The company brought together wellness experts to create content focused on three key areas : vitality , mindfulness and authenticity . Vitality content was focused on yoga , fitness , movement and nutrition , while the Mindfulness component offered mindfulness activities and guided meditation practices . Lessons drawn from positive psychology on the development and use of character
strengths comprised the content of the Authenticity portion of the program .

Winner : Noel Asmar group Inc . ■ All-Day No-Chafe Face Mask

Noel Asmar Uniforms designed face masks that retained an elevated spa uniform look while tackling the practical problems many masks present . The masks were made using OEKETEX™ fabric , certified to be free of harmful chemicals and metals , which helped prevent acne caused by persistent mask use and behind-the-ear chafing . The brand also launched educational materials for spas on appropriate mask wearing and care protocols , as well as on the environmental and financial impact of choosing reusable masks
over disposable ones

Winner : STRATA Integrated Wellness and Spa at Garden of the Gods ■ Breakthrough

Wellness Concierge Medical Memberships Experts across 40-plus multidimensional disciplines — including spa and salon therapists , personal trainers , physicians and patient ambassadors — created five scientifically driven and evidence-based Wellness Concierge Medical Memberships founded upon patient-centered healthcare and proactive self-care . Each of the memberships include integrative , immersive and innovative treatments and services ( more than 200 across the five Wellness Concierge Medical Memberships ), with the goal of taking a modern approach to supporting specific health needs and accomplishing personal wellness goals

technology Winner : Carillon Miami Wellness Resort ■ Touchless Wellness Therapies at the Spa at the Carillon When the COVID-19 pandemic struck , the Spa at the Carillon recognized a need to provide wellness solutions to guests who may have been hesitant to return to the spa for a high-touch experience . The spa teamed up with vendor partners to provide new therapies through cutting-edge technology that provided benefits ranging from recovery to better sleep to weight loss to respiratory health . In addition to helping guests , the adoption of these new wellness offerings also provided a revenue boost during a particularly challenging time .
