t’s that time of the year again for the ISPA
Conference & Expo. Oh, how fast time flies
indeed when you are having fun! It feels like
only yesterday when we were all gathered in
one place—catching up with familiar faces, exchanging ideas, taking in expert insights and meeting new
peers.

It seems not too long ago as well when I took
over the ISPA chairman reins and started working
with this year’s remarkable ISPA Board. If there is one

often, difficult decisions—and yet trusted that these
were best for the future of the association and the
industry as a whole. As Robert Vance so eloquently
described our discussions: “We actively listen, passionately debate, and respectfully compromise.”
In our June Board meeting, I challenged the team
to be “brilliant, amazing, and dangerous.” I challenged them to be dangerous from the standpoint of taking risks, especially with issues that took
us out of our comfort zones. We implemented a plan to achieve a balanced budget, which

On a personal level, my faith in this association, and to the next leadership helmed by your
new ISPA Chairman Ella Stimpson, is steady and strong. I believe in her capacity to lead as well
as the new Board’s ability to put the association’s interest above all else.
Finally, thank you for all the support in the year I served as your chairman. It was a meaningful and productive year. I trust that you, too, will extend the same support to Ella and the rest of
the incoming Board.
