Creating Opportunities
Since hiring her first employees to,
today, overseeing more than 52 staff
members in both Clear Lake and Deer
Park locations, Terry-Lopez’s commitment to education has not faltered. She
recently started a program in which the
spa offers employees who are not technicians a sponsorship to send them to
school for facial, nails or massage,
depending on the company’s need. “I
love the thought of growing our own,”
Terry-Lopez says. “This program goes
along with my real job: When people
ask what I do, I say I help people grow
careers. I teach and give people an
opportunity to do what they love to do
and live well.”
“If you enjoy creating a positive
change in someone’s life, start with your
own,” she adds. “Embrace your passion
and practice living your life as if it were
your last day on earth.” Terry-Lopez has
come a long way from her first rented

spa station, but she makes sure to never
forget her own path by keeping the
wicker basket footrest close by. “I keep it
so I can remember to be humble when a
new small spa owner calls to ask for
guidance,” she says. Based on the long
list of past and present clients and
employees whom she’s already helped,
it’s clear Terry-Lopez will be more than
ready to lend a hand whenever that call
comes. ■
