How do you inspire your team to follow you? Respect for the individual team member’ s views and an understanding of their thinking has to be the first order of business. The next important step is to speak and strategize with points that will spark the team’ s passion. I feel it is important to remain steady, strong and wise throughout the process and most of all give any type of support whether it be through infrastructure or emotional understanding. Finally, a very wise teammate of mine always reminds me to celebrate successes; hopefully, I am learning to do just that. If you can have dinner with one great leader, who would it be and why? I would love to have had dinner and a conversation with Jane Addams. In fourth grade, I was infatuated with reading biographies. Of course, all of the biographies in our library were detailed stories of the struggles and tribulations of people dedicated to a cause. None inspired me more than the biography of Jane Addams. Her vision, perseverance and understanding were remarkable and I wanted to be a social worker just like her. I never became a social worker. Physical education became my vocation instead. Now through the spa industry, I am able to be involved in improving people’ s lives through the influence of our many spa programs. Thank you, Jane Addams, for the inspiration!
