Scholarship recipient, then I will say you definitely missed
an opportunity to meet a rising spa star. If Kate is any indication of the quality of tomorrow’s spa industry leaders,
then the future is definitely bright for our industry.
It’s hard to believe we will soon be selecting a new Mary
Tabacchi Scholarship recipient. If you aren’t familiar with
the Mary Tabacchi Scholarship and who is eligible, here’s a
quick overview—the scholarship will be awarded to an
undergraduate who has completed at least one year of college and is working
toward a spa-related degree with an interest in spa management. The recipient
receives $2,500 to cover educational expenses along with registration, airfare and

I look at this initiative as a gift to our industry as a whole—it’s helping to create
a future leader who will then give back to the spa industry. If you know a student
interested in a career in spa, please encourage him or her to apply.
It’s very important that we, as spa professionals, encourage these future leaders
of the spa world not only by urging students to apply, but also by donating to the
ISPA Foundation. Donations and gifts are what ensure initiatives, like the Mary
Tabacchi Scholarship, continue. Like other nonprofit organizations, the Foundation
depends upon the generosity of donors to provide the initiatives and resources necessary to grow the industry and its professionals.
