A
s the health care industry
undergoes historical transformation, consumers are
turning to the restorative
power of medical spas to help them reach
the goal of overall well-being. Dr. Grace
Keenan, board certified in both Internal
Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine
as well as founder of The Medical Spa at
Nova, is among these health care consumers who—after dealing with her own
personal health struggles—became frustrated with the U.S. mainstream medical
model.
“The medications that were prescribed
for me were incredibly dangerous and had
plenty of complications. It was kind of a
rude awakening for me about what goes on
in my own health profession,” she says.
After delving into the study of complementary and integrative medicine, Dr.
Keenan established The Medical Spa at
Nova in 2005. Based in Ashburn, Virginia,
the 4,000-square-foot spa is part of a larger
20,000-square-foot facility that is also
