hen people know that I write for a living, some would
ask: Where do you write from? It’s amazing the places I
dig into—childhood memories, teen years’ rage, motherhood humor, life’s ironic poetries—to attempt to answer
this profound question with as much honesty as I can.
Many times though, I write from the joys, pride, tragedy or story of other people.
And isn’t this often true for most of us, especially when we chase inspiration
both for our personal and work lives? Don’t we often look for others—mentors,
peers or family—for meaningful ideas?
In fact, if you ask me where I write from for Pulse, I would respond with certainty that I write from
“you”—your ideas, your
success, your failure, your story.
So when spa industry leader
John Korpi took the time to write
to us about his experience of
“firsts” while reading Pulse’s May
issue, I can’t help but be
reminded that we need more
people like John to not only
spark inspiration but fuel us to relentlessly chase the best ideas for Pulse.
In his letter, he wrote: “I can’t resist sending along a note regarding this
month’s Pulse. In my personal judgment, it has to be the best issue of Pulse ever
published. I experienced two firsts!
1. I have never read Pulse from cover to cover until this morning.
2. I’ve never read the entire issue in one sitting, but as I turned each page, I
found myself wanting to read yet another article. It was a two-cup-coffeeexperience…I have to believe that every single reader will find several
inspirational tidbits that they will write down and keep on their desk to
commit to memory or act upon.”
It is my hope that, with this Ideas and Innovation issue of Pulse, you’ll have
your own “firsts” and two-cup-coffee-experience. But more importantly, I hope
you’ll find the time to let us know your story, your success, your ideas so that
every issue of Pulse is truly an issue about you.
