Will the spa industry completely move toward wellness? Will consumers soon demand for more specialization, changing the way the industry delivers its services as well as trains its professionals? According to these industry insiders, this is how the spa industry would most likely take shape in the future. I see the spa industry creating higher standards of service and spas becoming standard in all mid- to highclass hotels, resorts and destinations. Wellness within spas is the next big revolution to bring [us] back to [a] calmer, gentler and more relaxing [environment].” “I he future of the spa industry will be much more involved in lifestyle instead of just beauty or aesthetics and wellness. The spa will [help to] facilitate exercise, travel, [the consumption of resources like] cosmetics, food, clothes, etc. Eating, living and being healthy are essential for human beings to maintain and grow themselves physically and mentally. The spa industry will [help to] coordinate and balance all of these.” “T y vision of the spa industry’s future is more of a lifestyle choice. I feel that people, more than ever, need a sanctuary, a place to go to destress and unplug from everyday events. I think that more and more people are realizing that they need proper balance in their lives in order to reduce stress, illness, and create a positive life experience. Spas can play a significant role in helping someone create that balance. I think that spas need to pay attention to clients’ needs/wants and customize services to meet those needs. Customization is key and therapists who are [attuned] with each [client] and adjust the treatment accordingly [could] get the best feedback.” “M
