Tough Acts What better way to set the tone at the General Sessions than with entertainment acts that are tough to follow? From a daring acrobatic act to a high-energy musical number, attendees are given a taste of what Vegas has to offer. Mary Tabacchi Scholar ISPA Foundation President Jeff Kohl presented Jessica Barnett the 2011 ISPA Mary Tabacchi Scholarship. Goodbye Deborah, Welcome Ella As ISPA bids “goodbye” and “thank you” to past ISPA Chairman Deborah Waldvogel, the association welcomes 2012 ISPA Chairman Ella Stimpson.“I am grateful for the experience and this is definitely not a goodbye as I plan to stay heavily involved in our industry,” said the former Chairman. For Stimpson, as she embraced her new role, she tossed out a challenge to the audience:“We need to remain nimble, resourceful, willing to take risks and continue to learn and grow as the most relevant association possible.” Godmother of Spa “Feeling good begins with making a choice,” said Rancho La Puerta founder Deborah Szekely as she presented Life is good CEO Bert Jacobs the 2011 ISPA-Alex Szekely Humanitarian Award. The “godmother of spa” recalled how she made her own choice to focus on health by creating Rancho La Puerta and the Golden Door. “And I like to think that I helped all the people we’ve served over the years see that life can be good—and better, because of good health—just as I hope you do in your businesses each and every day.” To view Deborah Szekely’s full speech at Conference, visit the digital Pulse at experienceispa.com.
