oday’s consumers are becoming more time-impoverished than ever.
With time becoming more and more of a luxury, wellness, on one hand,
has become more and more a priority. Consumers place high value on
wellness and leisure activities, but with less time than ever before, they are pursuing
them in different ways.
This was the message from the trends panel featured on the last General Session
of the 2010 ISPA Conference & Expo.The session—facilitated by Peter Yesawich, CEO
of Ypartnership, a marketing agency with expertise in leisure, lifestyle and travel—

featured the following panelists: Paul Byrne, CEO of Precor (one of the largest fitness
equipment manufacturers in the world); Roger Helms, CEO of HelmsBriscoe (a procurer of group business for the hospitality industry); and Tory Johnson CEO of Women
for Hire (a workplace expert specializing in helping women grow their careers and
their businesses). All of the panelists are also avid spa-goers so they were an excellent representation of the consumers of our industry.
