I

’ m a big believer in celebrating milestones— anniversaries, birthdays and graduations are all special occasions for us to come together to rejoice and reflect. Not to mention, there will always be cake! Last year, we were able to Celebrate ISPA’ s 20th anniversary( even using the word as our Conference theme). For me, this summer has been filled with several memorable occasions and reasons to continue to celebrate.
One of the biggest celebrations was my 10-year wedding anniversary. It’ s hard to believe that I met my cute husband over a decade ago. We decided to revisit the magical place where we spent our honeymoon— Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We returned home relaxed and recharged after a week spent by the pool( and plenty of spa time) in the Mexican sunshine.
This summer, we also had my two sisters( Lisa and Marja) and our nephews( Jake and Hugh) spend a month in Kentucky. Their visit coincided with Jake’ s 8th birthday and the 4th of July. Another major milestone was my eldest sister Lisa turning 50 this year! My mom is still in shock that she has a 50-year-old daughter.
Another exciting birthday this month belongs to my dear friend, spa and fitness pioneer, and founder of The Oaks at Ojai Sheila Cluff. Sheila is turning 75, and she is the person they talk about when they say 75 is the new 50. She’ s simply an amazing person and you can share in the celebration by turning to page 3.
Celebrations are great— they allow us to pause and enjoy the moment. Whether or not you’ ve had a summer filled with events and memories, we all look forward to big events in our personal lives and our businesses. None is more important to the ISPA community and staff than the annual ISPA Conference & Expo. We’ ll be celebrating our 21st gathering this year by Believing in you, our industry and all the milestones we’ ve yet to reach. See you in Vegas where we can celebrate together!”
Healthy blessings,
