As we draw close to 2011 ISPA Conference & Expo, I can’ t help but walk down memory lane of past Conferences and ask myself in the process: What draws me to the ISPA Conference year after year?

For someone who has been attending the ISPA Conference for eight consecutive years now, it was a needed introspection in order to remind myself of what makes the event still relevant to this day. Ultimately, all reasons are summed up by one: Results.
I often use the analogy that the ISPA Conference & Expo is to spa professionals like spa treatments are to spa guests. Both, at the end of the day, give a sense of vitality, a feeling of being renewed with a new-found purpose and commitment— whether it be towards life, work or, specifically, to the global spa community.
Like results-focused spa treatments, the ISPA Conference & Expo offers benefits that, to spa professionals like me, are indispensable as we conduct our daily business of improving our careers or growing our ventures.
I can easily come up with more than 10 benefits of being at Conference, but there are three that stand out.
● Education. The quality of education and the diverse experiences of the talented speakers at Conference each year continue to be the biggest draw for many of the Conference attendees. For someone who feeds on knowledge, I especially look forward to hearing expert insights from this year’ s highly respected speakers.
● Caliber of Expo Showcase. The mix of trusted, familiar brands and new companies and products has kept the ISPA Expo truly relevant to spa professionals who, every year, survey exhibit hall aisles for fresh retail ideas.
● Connections. Perhaps, apart from education, no other benefit is more profound than ISPA Conference’ s ability to connect people. I’ d like to think of us as a community of solitary dots that, when linked together, make up a better, purpose-filled picture.
In the end, this sense of community, of being part of a bigger vision, is enough to make me pack my suitcase, board on a plane and fly out to Conference each year. I hope, this year, you’ ll do the same. See you all at ISPA Conference in November!
