ISPA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
IT ’ S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE 2022 ISPA CONFERENCE WAS TWO MONTHS AGO . The speed with which life has returned to its busy and frenetic pace surprises me . During the uncertain days of lockdown , one day stretched into a small eternity . Now , I blink and two months have become history .
Still , every day since Conference has brought a chance to reflect on the many moments that made our first time together in Las Vegas since 2019 so special . Here are just a few : p Meeting the team from Adirondack Foot Sanctuary in Lake Placid , New York who were attending their first conference . One of their technicians , Alamanda , tearfully shared that she felt like she had found her people and her place at ISPA . Forging those connections and giving people a sense of belonging is what we do at ISPA . p During the opening Power Session , when I asked first-time attendees to raise their hands , nearly half the room did so . What a joyful vision to see so many new faces at conference ! Our industry is expanding and welcoming new people . Among those hands are the future leaders and visionaries of our industry . p Kristy Whitford , the Spa Director at the Beverly Hills Hotel , who took the stage with Leon Logothetis on that final day to share her sense of pain and loss . What a courageous moment for Kristy to be so generous with her life experiences , and what an emotionally powerful lesson for those of us in attendance .
p Every ISPA Inspiration Box and Welcome Bag at registration was hand stuffed by a member of the ISPA Headquarters team . And that was just that tip of the iceberg of all the work they did to make our three days together a success . It simply would not have happened without them — their dedication made this ISPA Conference a reality . These snapshots are only a few of thousands that we all witnessed and were a part of . They do , however , highlight the human-to-human connection that our industry fosters . As we can do that for ourselves , so can we extend that warmth and graciousness to the millions of people we impact each year . p
