The urgent changes . It always does .

Perhaps you remember when the most urgent issue of the day was the relationship between the US and Cuba . Or the argument you were having about what flavor the wedding cake should be . The very nature of ‘ urgent ’ means that it can ’ t and won ’ t persist . Important , on the other hand , might hang around for a long time .

I LOVED SETH GODIN ’ S STRONGER TOGETHER SUMMIT SESSION and appreciate his daily emails . Some , like the one above , resonate more than others .
Throughout the pandemic , COVID-19 has been “ urgent ,” and we moved quickly in response , adjusting every aspect of our lives to meet the needs of the moment . But now , Seth ’ s reminder that the urgent “ won ’ t and can ’ t persist ” rings true as we begin to see emerging signs of post-COVID life . Personally , I don ’ t want to talk about it anymore , and I think so many of us are ready to move on from the urgent to focus on the important .
Staffing challenges and talent management have been , and still are , important , and they will continue to hang around for a while . We ’ ve all experienced it — whether at Starbucks , the grocery store or even at your own business . Until we overcome those challenges , we cannot thrive !
We ’ re cautiously optimistic about the future , and we ’ re excited to unveil the groundwork ISPA is laying to address the talent gap . You may recall that , in April 2020 , we had to cancel our planned Talent Symposium , which was created to address these challenges . Now , we ’ re developing a Talent Management Toolkit , participating in regional job fairs and we have created the sizzle reel * to attract employees to join our amazing industry ! The possibilities in spa are endless , and we know — with your support — we will be stronger together . Stay tuned ! n
