BORN AND RAISED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA,
Marissa Krems has put her dedicated nature during her seven years in
the industry; now, she’s director of spa at the Elms Hotel & Spa in
Excelsior Springs, Missouri, about 25 miles outside Kansas City.
Her vibrant personality and loving support have led her to supermom
status and a rewarding career in spa.
“It was my first year at Pebble Beach Resorts that I found my
passion for hospitality,” remembers Marissa. “While working full-time
at the resort, I decided to take on a part time receptionist position at
Cinq Mondes Spa in Carmel, California. I quickly fell in love with
everything in the industry. From the people and products
to the mission behind the work we did, I felt a
deep love for what we were doing. The owner,
Chantal Tourtin, quickly took me under her
wing and showed me the ins and outs of
the industry. Within a year, I had earned a
promotion as the assistant spa director.
I knew I had found my people, my tribe
and the community I had been longing for.
“My proudest accomplishment thus far
would have to be my kids and family. I had a rough
childhood growing up and have worked hard to give my
children what I did not have. We are a close bunch and I’m raising two
beautiful humans.”
Marissa is a great cook and loves adventures, road trips and Thai
food. Her favorite stress reliever is a hike or a massage, and she loves
Jack Johnson, saying “his music brings a smile to my face and makes
me dance around the house.” She also enjoys nine-round kickboxing,
paddle boarding, gardening with her kids and traveling.
“I’m always up for a trip, big or small. As a family we try to take
two to three trips a year. Most of my work travel starts in the spring,
and I always enjoy finding new conferences and networking events.” n
