do you Know jeff Kohl?
Between his work with both the ISPA Board of directors and the ISPA
Foundation Board, countless ISPA committees and task forces, plus 25
years’ worth of ISPA Conference & Expo connections, many of you think
you know Kohl pretty well. We asked him several quick questions to dig
a little deeper into the man behind the spa.
What motivates you? Being able to contribute to someone’s success every day. That’s
why I’m doing what I’m doing now with BBSI Las Vegas.
Who is your biggest role model? I have a personal board of directors. my wife michele is
the Chairman along with my grandmother who died several years ago at age 102; Bill
garrity, retired owner of Warranty managers Inc; dick Nunis, former chair of disney
Attractions Worldwide and John Anderson owner of J.H. Anderson Holdings. I always
seek wisdom from this board through verbal and spiritual communication, which has
guided me through life.
you have a random day off, what do you do? I spend it with my wife michele. We prefer
to be active, so it could involve time being together or with close friends, as they should
never be forgotten. you do not know how long you will have them with you!
What is your favorite spa treatment? A facial.

P: As a consultant, you get the
opportunity to work with both
current and future leaders in the
spa industry. What is one common
trait you see in these leaders?
K: I would like to see more disruptors in
our spa world. To grow an industry, you
must have those who are willing to disrupt
and take risks. I challenge all of you and
the spa industry as a whole to think of the
next big disruption or innovation.
P: Tell us about your most
memorable IsPA Conference &
expo experience.
K: The most memorable ISPA Conference
& Expo for me was the one in 2001 in
Palm Springs. It was held shortly after
9/11 and was a combination of happiness
and sadness, which pulled everyone
together and created a very special
memory. The other ISPA Conference &
Expo I found to be memorable was held
in Banff. At this Conference, it was
decided to bring on Host
What is the most interesting place you’ve ever visited? I have been blessed to have
visited more than 70 countries through my personal and career travels, so it’s very hard
to pick one. I could say New zealand but that is a story by itself!
How do you practice wellness? I am a fulfilled person who enjoys working out, being
with great family and friends and many exciting career opportunities, which allow me to
see the positive side to every day. There are too many people who don’t enjoy what
they are doing. If you don’t enjoy what you are doing, make a course correction and do
something else that stimulates and empowers you.
if you could time travel, when and where would you go? I would go back and have a
conversation with Albert Einstein before he was successful.
favorite book: Will: The Autobiography of G. Gordon Liddy
favorite movie: The Sting
app you can’t live without? None of them!
Who was the most influential isPa conference & Expo speaker you’ve ever seen?
dr. Andrew Weil
Communications as a management
company. That single and most important
decision moved the association and the
industry quickly forward onto a positive
trajectory.
P: This year’s IsPA Conference &
expo theme is CONNeCT. How do
you hope your contributions to
IsPA will CONNeCT with future
leaders in the industry?
K: I would like my contributions to the
ISPA Foundation in creating educational
materials and to the overall association in
building financial stability to connect with
future leaders. Those that I’ve had the
opportunity to mentor are all future
leaders in the industry and I see great
potential in them. My advice is give more,
think outside of your walls, always return
phone calls and never forget to be humble
and kind. n
