1. For the third year in a row, spas across the globe were invited by the
Faye’s Light Organization to unify for Sparks of Light Day on
November 6, 2017. Participating spas offered free treatment services
to those undergoing active cancer treatments as well as their
caregivers. Several ISPA members joined the cause. For more infor-

2. The Spa at The Estate Yountville in Yountville, California, has
extended an invitation for first responders to use the spa facilities
and enjoy the relaxing and rejuvenating experience of a ‘Recovery
Flight’ in the O2 Chair as a thank you for all their relentless hard
work during the October wildfires in the Valley.

1. Marriott International has secured a management contract for
its first luxury resort on the Japanese island of Miyakojima.
Scheduled to open in late 2018, the new Iraph Sui spa resort will
be operated under Marriott’s The Luxury Collection brand. The
resort will offer 57 guest rooms, nine suites with private plunge
pools, 10 luxury junior suites and an executive suite. A large spa
will anchor the resort’s wellness offerings.

2. Omni Hotels and Resorts will invest US$150 million in the
redevelopment of the Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin,
Texas. All guest facilities will be upgraded – including the addition
of a new spa. The design of the new Mokara Spa draws inspiration
from nearby waterways, creeks and springs, and offers a rooftop
garden and adult-only pool overlooking the surrounding landscape.

1. Glen Ivy Hot Springs is offering a “Backyard Escape” package for local
residents of Corona and Lake Elsinore, California through January 31. For
just US$29 weekday admission, locals can enjoy the property. Also,
through the months of December and January, all guests can warm up with
a complete spa day including a 50-minute spa service, visit to the Grotto,
admission to the facilities, use of a signature robe, and festive hot cocoa
and a seasonal house made cookie at the GOCO Café for just US$159 on
weekdays.

2. The Spa at Ballantyne, located at The Ballantyne, a Luxury Collection
Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, has introduced a menu that promotes
overall health and sustainability. New outcome-driven treatments include
Custom Massage Therapy, Stress Relief Therapy and Second Youth Facial,
complemented by mainstays such as The Spa’s signature Carolina Lavender
services featuring locally-sourced lavender. All services are designed to
provide an experience, sense of place and noticeable results.
