Full Throttle Grand Prix Speed. The ultimate adrenaline-pumping fantasy. What possibly can be more nerve-wracking than a photofinish on a racing track? Apogee aims at recreating just that. Full Throttle Grand Prix, a remote-controlled car racing event, is a chance to show off your knowledge of the engineering behind remote controlled cars and simulate the ultimate driving experience. Control your self-built RC cars on a race track and race yourself to victory. Seems easy, right? Cut-throat competition awaits anyone who participates and at the end of the day, it is the quality of the car and the driver’s capability which decides the winner. So, gear up! STOCK MARKET SIMULATION Stock Market Simulation, a collaboration between the Economics and Finance Association and ACM, provides the participant a chance to test their financial acumen and improve on it. It is one event which allows students to step into the shoes of their dads, and make sense of those fluctuating numbers, which probably made no sense in our childhood. DHITI India is a land of skilled and highly intelligent engineers. Sadly, the talent of these engineers fail to reach the places where it is most needed – the villages. ‘Dhiti’ aims at providing students a platform to search ground-breaking yet feasible and economically viable solutions for solving the problems faced at the grassroots level in India. With an illustrious panel of judges, Dhiti this year promises to be a huge success. KERNEL EVENTS ROBOTS AT WAR In 1942, Isaac Asimov postulated the three laws of robotics First law A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. Second Law A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. Third Law A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. Apogee 2014 adds a slight modification to this ruleA robot should protect its own existence above all – to hell with everything else! Witness the robots battle it out at ‘Robots at War’, fighting to establish supremacy and most importantly, survive! ISTRIKE Think you have marvellous road sense? Try teaching that to a robot then! This Apogee you get a chance to build a robot capable of moving on the road, avoiding obstacles and following traffic signals paved along the way to reach its destination. iStrike, an event in which there is no room for error. One mistake, and you are out! With a number of interesting changes in the format from last year, iStrike is expected to draw a huge amount of participation. INTERNATIONAL CODING LEAGUE Think you are a master of competitive coding? You have a very good chance of reconsidering this! The Assosciation of Computing Machinery, BITS Pilani is organising the International Coding League, a computer programming competition based on the pattern of ACM-ICPC. Code your way up the ladder to claim the holy grail of coding supremacy. Beware, cut-throat competition awaits you!
