HOW TO: ORGANISATIONS
The first iteration of the Organisation (org) system
launched on the 21st of January, giving all backers the
chance to create or join Star Citizen organisations on the
RSI website. Here we’ll look at the Organisation system,
how to use it, and some of the less known features of the
system.
What Are Organisations?
Organisations are groups of like-minded people. Any backer
(and only backers) can create or join an organisation, and
they offer unique benefits to their members. Organisations:
•
•
•
•
Have their web page, chat channel and later, separate
forums hosted by RSI.
Provide players with special communications channels
in the Persistent Universe that let them talk with fellow
members instantly, no matter how far away they are.
Provide joint bank accounts, taxation and hangar
access, allowing groups to easily pool resources.
Have a chance of becoming part of Star Citizen lore
by incorporating their actions into the story of the
Persistent Universe.
How Can I Create An Org?
If you aren’t already a member
of an organisation and have
backed the game, you can
create an organisation by
visiting the “Organizations” page
accessed under “Community”
on the RSI website.
This will take you to the
organisation creation page, where you will need to enter
some basic information about your org. Don’t worry too
much about what you enter on this page - all of the details
except the “SID” can be changed at any time after creating
your organisation. The information that you will need to
enter includes:
1. Name: This is your organisation’s name. It doesn’t
need to be unique and can match other organisations’
names.
2. Spectrum ID (SID): This is your organisation’s unique
identifier. It cannot be the same as other organisations,
as it will be used to creat your org’s URL. Be careful
when choosing your SID, it can’t be changed once set!
3. Archetype: Here you can choose the overall type of
your organisation. This has no in-game effect, it just
helps other players find your organisation and gives
them a quick idea of what your org is about.
4. Commitment: This is how much time and effort
you would like your members to devote to your
organisation.
5. Primary Language: The language you expect people
to communicate in when talking to other members of
your organisation.
6. Role Play: Whether your organisation expects its
members to role play their characters in the Persistent
Universe or not.
7. Activities: The general activities your organisation
will be devoted to. Again, this has no in-game effect;
it just helps other players to understand what your
organisation is at a glance.
8. Introduction: What you write here will appear on the
front page of your organisation. Try to be descriptive
and explain what your organisation is - it will be the
first thing people see when they look up your org.
Once you have filled out all of the information on the page,
click “Create organisation.”
Congratulations! You’ve created your first org, but there is
still a lot left to do before you can call your organisation
finished. Don’t forget to update your organisation’s logo,
banner and background images, along with your org’s
History, Manifesto, and Charter.
