Thanks to " The Jump," Somernites Cruise took a leap— into the future.

Somerset ' s classic and custom car show has always been about nostalgia. That means embracing the things of the past as well as catering to an audience of a certain age.

But to keep the motor running for the event, so to speak, that means refueling— bringing in new fans, engaging younger generations, and embracing newer technologies.

Some of those goals have been met in recent years with the creation of the " Young Guns " showcase, for car owners aged 30 or under and showcases

focusing on vehicles like trucks and Jeeps that might have a little less rust on them, chronologically speaking, than your average Tri-Five Chevy. But the world was introduced to Somernites Cruise this past June when it became a viral sensation on social media when a replica of the General Lee car from the 1980s TV hit " The Dukes of Hazzard "

jumped over Fountain Square in Downtown Somerset.
