The local Goodwill Opportunity Center will be focusing on credentialing and education in the upcoming year , and it is going to start offering in-person GED classes in partnership with adult ed .
" So , the folks that need their GED , they ' re not feeling the pressure to have to go to another location and sign up with them separately ," Bastin said . " We ' re also going to be working with the Center for Rural Development to offer some credentialing . Our goal is to help people who are ready to go into a program , to earn a credential , to earn things like fiber optics , welding , or whatever Somerset Community College can offer ."
" We ' ve also opened up as a daytime warming center in partnership with Help the Homeless ," Bastin said . " There are a lot of resources that go into helping unhoused folks . At closing time , if we need to transport people to Help the Homeless , we do that , and from there they go to the warming center at New Life Church at night . So there ' s not one hour in the day that anybody has to be out in the cold . Then in the summertime , we will offer a cooling center ."
