down the road , but when she called me , I was ready !" said Ella Grace .
" I packed up my bags and left , I had no hesitation !"
She said she loves Somerset as her new home .
" Everybody has been so sweet with their southern hospitality ," she said . " We feel very welcomed ."
And hospitality is exactly what the grandmother / granddaughter team say is at the heart of The Gracious Table .
Janice said she remembers that when she was a child , her family would , pass around a tray with coffee and other items on it , while sitting at their family table , and
|
folks would take what they liked , and enjoy themselves in the pleasant presence of their family and friends .
She said folks don ' t do that enough anymore , and she hopes her and her granddaughter ' s shop can be a part of helping folks bring that back into their own lives and the lives of others .
For The Gracious Table , it ' s about hospitality , the art of gift-giving , and sharing table time with friends and loved ones .
" It just kept coming back to me that ' s what we need today ," Janice said .
" And that ' s what our young adults need as well ."
She added that what is missing in a lot of homes
|
today is simply gathering around the table .
" If you think of somebody , it ' s for a reason ," she said .
" If you got someone on your mind , you need to do something about it : either pick up the phone , send a note , or pick up a jar of jam to take to them ."
She added this is a simple way to say " I thought about you today ."
The grandmother and granddaughter said their faith is a very important part of their lives and their business as well .
" We use it as a ministry ," said Janice .
" It ' s a mission field ," said Ella Grace .
" We meet people of all walks of life here , and I want every one of them
|
to feel welcome ," Janice said . " We care about them ." For more information about The Gracious Table , call ( 606 ) 416-5212 or visit their Facebook page at " The Gracious Table ." |
