Growing and developing the event has always been part of the Somernites strategy , but as the generation that started with the festival continues to advance along life ' s path , it ' s become increasingly important to build interest with younger demographics as well . Somernites Cruise has put an emphasis on this in recent years , and it ' s been — as with everything else the car show has accomplished — a success .
" If you look around , we ’ re trending to be a younger crowd ," said Floyd at the final Somernites event of 2024 , literally surveying the surrounding crowd at the time . " You don ’ t see a lot
of gray hair . You see some , but you don ’ t see a lot of 70-80-year-olds . ... You see more of the 30s-50s and even younger , which is neat . We ’ ve been trying to work that way and trying to build that ."
Speaking later about the Cruise ' s 25th year , Floyd said , " We ' ve made an effort to try to be on the cutting edge of the automotive show world . We ' ve somewhat even dictated it , because of being innovators ; we created that culture and the genre of downtown cruising . We ' ve taken it to the next level ."
As of this article ' s writing , not every special guest and attraction for the 2025 season could be revealed yet , but Floyd promised some " big " things in the works for this year .
