blessed to meet customers from all over the country from Michigan to Hawaii . Whether they are wanting to browse , share in testimonies or simply visit the store as a safe space to praise God , the Calfees are eager to be there for their customers in any way .
“ To give an example , I had a customer come in here . A very large guy ,” said Paul . “ I greeted him , but he didn ’ t say anything . He just walked around and left . The next day he came back at the same time , walked around and left
again . By the third day he came back at the same time , and I was getting nervous thinking I was going to get robbed . Then he opened up to me and said , ‘ Every time I stepped foot in here , I haven ’ t had the need to do drugs that day .’ I told him he could come in here every day if he wanted .”
Yet , their customers have impacted these owners ’ lives just as much , especially during the pandemic that included their bookstore ’ s temporary shutdown in 2020 .
“ Our customers never let us down . They really rose up and showed all the small businesses their support ,” said Sarah . “ They checked on us and would pull in the driveway or call . They
