Out-of-town guests are welcomed to play anytime at Somerset Country Club . No reservations or tee times are required Monday through Thursday , but tees times for play on Friday through Sunday can be made by calling the pro shop at 606-678-4623 .
Our favorite holes at Somerset Country Club :
Hole 17 - Par 4 , 395 yards - This par-4 , uphill hole plays more like a 440-yard hole than a 395-yard hole . You must carry at least 250 yards on the drive to get up unto the plateau to get a good look at the green .
From there you will have about a 150- yard approach shot . However , if you don ' t clear the hill on your drive , then the golfer will be forced to hit a long uphill , blind shot . Two bunkers guard the green .
Hole 3 - Par 5 , 485 yards – With a creek in the middle of the fairway and a pond on the right , it takes an accurate drive to hit the fairway or a long drive to cross the creek . You need a good shot to get around the dogleg left to be inside 100 yards to the green . It takes an accurate third shot to have an opportunity to birdie on a green that slopes from right to left .
