While the sparkling waters of Lake Cumberland may be the main draw for most tourists visiting the Pulaski County area , the four outstanding golf courses in the area may be a close second as the favorite entertainment for out-of-town tourists .
Two of the golf courses – Burnside Island State Park and Woodson Bend Resort – are located alongside Lake Cumberland in the southern part of Pulaski County , while Eagle ' s Nest Country Club

and Somerset Country Club are located within or nearby the Somerset city limits .
All four golf courses are meticulously maintained and offer their own individual challenges for golfers of any level .
Somerset Country Club , the oldest of the four local courses , is the shortest of the four courses allowing the long hitters to score low . However , danger awaits around every corner with tight fairways , creeks and water along several of the holes .
Burnside Island State

Park , which was redesigned 14 years ago , is maintained to the highest of standards and features some of the most unique holes a golfer might ever play . The course is average in length with five holes laying at the edge of the wooded area along Lake Cumberland .
Woodson Bend Resort is tucked away in its own little secluded area along Lake Cumberland . And while the lake does not come into play , the breathtaking views of the Palisade stone walls of Lake Cumberland can be seen from several of the holes on

the course . And if you play later in the day , you will have to share the course with many of the resort ' s friendly deers .
While Eagle ' s Nest Country Club is the newest of the four local courses , it was designed and built around the rough and rugged terrains of Pulaski County farmland . A large almost bottomless ravin presents a tough challenge for both the first and tenth holes . And while the tee boxes , fairways and greens are all in pristine condition , the terrain outside these areas can be daunting on several of its more formidable holes .
