WHAT IS HEAT-SET PRINTING ? Heat-set printing is the process by which ink is dried by running the printed paper roll through an oven immediately after the printing units apply the ink . As the paper passes through the oven , the oil-based solvents in the ink reach a evaporation point ; what is leftover are waxes , resins and pigment . The paper then passes through chilling rollers where the waxes and resins cool down to solidify or set . This is the process that gives heat-set printing its name . The process of this type of printing yields a cleaner more upscale product .
