Thermal Imaging Practical Use (8 hours) Thermal imaging cameras are becoming standard use to provide lifesaving fire ground information. The information provided by this tool must be correctly interpreted for safe use. This comprehensive one-day training provides intense individual instruction in the use of specific thermal imaging cameras from various manufacturers. Vent, Enter, Isolate and Search (VEIS) (4 hours) The assignment of search and rescue is a difficult and often dangerous task for firefighters. In this program you will specifically learn the technique known as VEIS. This is a strategic operational modality, the aim of which is to provide for rapid searches of areas remote from the fire in a structure. This is a live fire class that is 10 percent classroom lecture and 90 percent hands on.   Fire Prevention & Intelligence Basic Fire Inspection (9 hours) This course provides the opportunity for the learner to develop the knowledge skills process and understanding basic fire inspection procedures and hazard identification. Emerging Drug Trends (3 hours) The prevalence of drugs in our communities is getting worse. As fire and EMS providers, we are on the front lines of this epidemic as we respond to medical calls, overdoses, and fires. This course will cover the latest in the drug trends in our communities, what we can do to prevent the abuse, signs to look for at an incident, and steps that you can take to prevent accidental exposure. Identification and Pre-Planning for Community Target Hazards (3 hours) Every fire department has high risk occupancies located within their response district. Whether your district contains schools, churches, restaurants, lumber yards or other high-risk occupancies, emergency responses to those locations are dramatically different than your typical residential emergency. This course will help your agency identify and plan your response to high risk occupancies to maximize your ability to protect lives and property. Media Relations and Social Media Strategies (3 hours) The delivery of the news has dramatically changed in the past decade. This course will cover ways in which we can deliver our message to the public, manage active incidents, and enhance our public education. Modern Building Construction (3 hours) This course provides the components of building construction that relate to fire and life safety. The focus of this course is on firefighter safety.
