Using simulations, students will be able to hone their skills at tactics and decision-making on such scenes as car fires, grass fires, structure fires, motor vehicle crashes, EMS calls, CO2 alarms, and the many other emergencies that you are responding to in today’s world.   Incident Command/Management Blue Card Command The Blue Card Command Certification Program teaches incident commanders and other fire officers how to standardize incident operations. Disaster Management Simulations (4 or 8 hours) This course provides the opportunity for the learner to develop the knowledge and skills needed to assume Incident Command at local incidents. Firefighter Recruitment and Retention (3 hours) Years ago, all you needed to be a firefighter was to live in the fire district, and you were given gear and a pager. Today the requirements placed on new firefighters have made them a hard commodity to obtain and keep. This class will cover the methods to meet those objectives. Fire Officer 101 (3 hours) Learn the basics of what it means to be an officer on a volunteer or combination department. This lecture-based class discusses the qualities, job duties, and conduct needed to propel the new and seasoned fire officer to the next level. Incident Command System (ICS)/National Incident Management System (NIMS)   Fire Tactics Acquired Structure Workshop (3 hours) In this lecture class, learn the requirements for using acquired structures in training. The course will review legal requirements under USEPA and WDNR NESHAP, NFPA 1403 requirements and their adoption by Wisconsin through Administrative code SPS 330. The course will also review the allowable uses of these structures and limitations. Advanced Engine Company Operations (4 hours) This class consists of proven techniques, tactics, and practical considerations that will positively impact your operations. We will cover a variety of hose-load options, problem-solving, and operating as a team with two-, three-, and four-man companies. Air Monitoring (3 hours) This course reviews the basic science behind gases, atmospheric analysis using detection equipment, and procedures for evaluating the scene of alarms . NWTC is the regional delivery point for ICS and NIMS courses. Our instructors can help you meet your agency’s mandatory training requirements as well as design and deliver customized training and simulations. Art of Reading Smoke (3 hours) Risk Management Decision-Making in the Fire Services (3 hours) Basement Fire Tactics (4 hours) Learn the consequences your decisions will have on incident development, response tactics and incident safety. This course reviews various real incidents and the decisions made and outcomes. 18 This course will help you learn the attributes of smoke that are used to properly read smoke conditions, making your next fire scene safer and assuring that everyone gets to go home after the fire is extinguished. This course will review basement fire suppression operations including size-up for basement fires, building construction in relation to basement fires, basement fire attack, search and rescue at basement fires, and firefighter safety at basement fires.
