tips for better night time video surveillance, the basics of building
a portable internet video surveillance system, software-based
issues of video playback speed, highest quality image capturing, and
adjusting images to improve identification.
Covert Video Devices
Video surveillance and related evidence is very important in
supporting investigations and the options for survellence has never

investigations. This course will cover investigative procedures,
tactics, and legalities in what is often a time-sensitive investigation.

information gathered as well as setting up the arrest of the
suspected sources while building a solid case against the offender.
Electronic Tracking of Controlled Deliveries
Controlled deliveries of drugs in parcel shipments are done every day
by law enforcement, and in most instances, agencies relinquish control
of the package without any means other than physical surveillance to
determine if the package and/or contraband remain at the location.
Technology readily available would allow investigators to know where
the contraband is and follow it with GPS and RF signals, whether it is
moving or stopped, opened or closed and can even remotely activate
an alarm to disorient during a search warrant or to assist in locating
the package. This course will discuss technologies, equipment, and
techniques that can and should be used to improve the security and
management of controlled delivery of packages by law enforcement.
Electronic Tracking Technologies and Devices
Electronic Tracking is the term that covers all tracking technologies
used by law enforcement from GPS, which is the most widely used,
to RF beacons, cellular location, satellite beacons, unattended ground
sensors and new technologies that are now coming to market.
This course highlights all of the available electronic tracking tools
available and commonly used by investigative agencies. Also covered,
is what equipment is available, capabilities, the uses of the devices,
legal requirements for use, deployment, and pricing.
Evidence Collection for the Patrol Officer
This course is aimed at the street level patrol officer and will cover
photography and the collection and preservation of evidence.
Evidence and Property Room Management
From the moment an officer arrives on the scene to the final strike
of the gavel in the courtroom, the collection and storage of evidence
and property is crucial to the outcome of any case. This course will
cover the steps needed to be taken along with the protocols set
forth by the WI Department of Justice Crime Lab. Topics to be covered
include physical security of property and evidence rooms; policies
and procedures relating to the property and evidence storage; legal
issues pertaining to the operation of property and evidence storage;
evidence packaging for storage and submission for testing; evidence
integrity; disposition of property and evidence in accordance with WI
statutes; bio-hazardous evidence storage and destruction; and WI
Crime Lab submission guidelines.
Homicide Conference
Murder occurs in cities, rural areas, and businesses, on the internet
and even in the mind of the perpetrator. For over 25 years, we have
dived into the case files of hundreds of homicides throughout the
United States and have listened to convicted murderers on what their
thoughts were. We have combined that with the latest in evidence
collection and statement gathering to put together a conference that
annually attracts investigators from throughout the Midwest.
Internet Video Surveillance
Internet-based (IP) surveillance provides low cost and easy to deploy
real-time video surveillance options to narcotics investigations. IP vid-
eo equipment features allow for remote-controlled pan, tilt and zoom
options which allow real-time day and night surveillance over 3G and
4G cellular systems and can be accessed from any internet-enabled
smartphone. This course will compare purchasing a system to building
one in-house, as well as outlining the capabilities and related costs.
