INSURANCE
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & TOURISM
Pass meaningful legislation aimed at
reducing assignment of benefits abuse and
fraud.
Support and encourage the implementation
of multiple employer group health insurance
benefits for small businesses.
TRANSPORTATION
Fund expansion of the Florida Strategic
Intermodal System and/or Turnpike System to
address economic development needs
previously addressed by the planned Central
Polk Parkway.
Fund expansion of the I-4 corridor including
vehicular and multimodal improvements
through and adjacent to Polk County.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Protect the Sadowski Trust Fund and
support funding of the State Housing
Initiative Partnership (SHIP) and State
Apartment Incentive Loan (SAIL) programs
which are critical components of Lakeland's
affordable housing and neighborhood
stabilization efforts.
Support improving and maintaining
municipalities' use of Community
Development Agencies (CRAs) allowing for
revitalization of blighted communities.
Support a further reduction in the state's
Business Rent Tax, with the ultimate goal
being a complete phase out.
Support continued responsible funding for
programs promoting and expanding
exposure to arts and culture in Lakeland,
Polk County and across the state.
The Chamber encourages the Florida
Legislature to implement reforms to address
attorney's fees in order to keep Workers'
Comp rates in Florida affordable for job
creators, help keep the Workers' Comp
system functioning, and protect employers
and employees from additional,
unreasonable rate increases.
The Lakeland Chamber of Commerce represents 1,400 member
businesses in the Greater Lakeland area and provides
opportunities for networking, professional development and
advocacy for companies of all size.
