Lakshmi: Some say that she was the goddess of wealth with four arms and four legs, and others say she was born with a parasitic twin that her parents were too poor to get removed. Her mother said that before she was born she had a dream that she was to build a temple to the goddess Lakshmi and did so inside herself, using her own cells to build the body. Lakshmi could only sit in the puddle of her limbs, her other-self born with club feet and useless hands. When she was two years old, all the excesses of herself were removed, and she learned to walk on her own, using only braces to hold her legs together. ♦
