There are several ways we can contribute to the Syrian people in need, one of them being by simply donating to the many charities created in aid of the Syrian crisis. An example of a fundraising appeal is the Scotland to Syria cycle, which is a 3,300 mile cycle trip, 45 day challenge by several cyclists who have been currently cycling from Scotland to Syria to raise funds for Human Appeal in order to build a safe village for orphans and widows in Syria. This is an ultimate endurance test and has been an inspiration to many following their journey to Syria. The cyclists have described their journey so far;
“We have just reached halfway through the journey. Cycling an average of 75 miles per day is not easy but what motivates us is the reason we are doing it for, the shelter that we are going to provide for the suffering orphans and widows.
We met a lot of helpful people that gave us free food, some gave us free service, and accommodation too.
The hardest part so far was cycling through the Alps in Switzerland. Two cyclists were injured because of the crazy downhill cycling at nearly 70 miles per hour.
The weather started to get hot from Italy and now we will start cycling in Greece and we expect the weather to get hotter.
Turkey will be our final country though we will spend 2 weeks of cycling across the country which is expected to be the biggest challenge because of the weather and the roads. Our final destination will be the refugee camps on the Turkish borders”.
