Used cooking oil collection
More than 3,000 pounds of used cooking oil has been kept from entering the sewer system since Utility Systems partnered with Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful( KPSLB) in 2020.
Kevin Palmer, Industrial Pretreatment and Environmental Compliance Assistant Manager, first attended KPSLB’ s bi-annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day five years ago, and residents appreciate the opportunity to properly dispose of their unwanted oil. Keeping it out of the kitchen sink helps protect the sewer pipes and treatment plants.
The next event will be March 2026 at the Public Works Complex.
