CIP tour showcases Utility Systems facilities
City Council, the City Manager ' s Office, directors, staff and the public were invited on a bus tour of 20 capital improvement projects throughout Port St. Lucie, including sidewalk, road, culvert and park trail improvement projects.
Organizers also wanted to make stops at the Utility Systems’ Glades Wastewater Treatment Plant and the St. Lucie River / C-23 Water Quality Project, with a break for lunch at McCarty Ranch Preserve to learn more about those areas.
Several staff members from the administration and maintenance divisions helped facilitate the department’ s participation in this tour and pulled everything together to make it a great experience for all participants.
Industry leaders learn public relations
At the 2026 Rural Water Association WaterPro Conference in New Orleans, Assistant Manager of Community Outreach Jenny Tomes spoke to 100 water professionals from around the country about implementing communications plans for their organizations to extend their reach to customers.
Participants learned how to use research to drive goals and objectives that align with their organization’ s mission; implement strategies and tactics to reach their target audiences; and evaluate and measure their plan’ s outcomes and results against their objectives. Participants took home a communications plan template that they can plug into their next project.
