Public Records Requests and Sunshine Law Sept. 30, 2:30 p. m. and Oct. 8, 9 a. m. and 1:30 p. m.
This mandatory City-wide training offered virtually and in-person simultaneously in the Council Chambers, shines light on this important process regarding the statutory and constitutional right to access municipal records, as well as the right to open access of municipal meetings at the state and local levels. This training brings awareness to our City staff, so we can better uphold our values of ethics, accountability and stewardship to further our advancement toward our strategic plan goal of a high-performing government organization.
Community Job Fair recap
The City of Port St. Lucie recently hosted its fifth annual Community Job Fair, bringing together job seekers, employers and community organizations for an afternoon focused on employment opportunities and career resources.
This year’ s event welcomed 1,052 job seekers, 55 employers and 14 community partners.
For the first time, the City opened its Dress for Success Studio at 9 a. m., giving job seekers several hours to find professional clothing and prepare for the afternoon job fair. The studio remained open throughout the event to provide additional support, including help with last-minute wardrobe needs.
The Dress for Success Studio welcomed more than 400 visits and offered more than 800 pieces of clothing, including professional outfits, shoes, belts, ties, jewelry and other accessories. The clothing was generously donated by City of Port St. Lucie employees. Following the Job Fair, all remaining clothing was donated to Safe Space, Inc., which supports victims and families affected by domestic violence.
The City thanks all the employers, community partners, volunteers and City employees who helped make this event possible. A special thank you goes to Lowe’ s for generously providing water to keep attendees refreshed throughout the event. The strong community participation helped make this year’ s job fair a valuable resource for residents seeking employment and local employers looking for talented candidates. www.
