Crash-worthy bollards at Community Center plaza
The Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the successful installation of three crashworthy bollards at the entrance plaza of the Community Center with a fourth bollard having been installed at the north entrance.
These protective barriers were strategically placed to enhance the safety, security and overall experience for patrons and staff.
In addition to regulating traffic flow, the bollards serve a critical security function by reducing the potential threat of a vehicle-related incident, whether accidental or intentional, near the building’ s entrances. This includes protection against vehicles striking the front or side doors, which are high-traffic areas during events and daily operations.
The newly installed bollards are designed and rated for crashworthiness, meaning they meet specific engineering standards to stop or slow a vehicle upon impact. Their presence offers a visible layer of protection and peace of mind for everyone who uses the facility, reaffirming the City’ s commitment to public safety and responsible infrastructure planning.
