Nearly 400 flags collected through Flag Retirement Box Program
The City of Port St. Lucie launched a Flag Retirement Box Program in early July to give residents an opportunity to easily and properly discard tattered or worn-out U. S. flags.
Flag retirement boxes were installed at City Hall, Veterans Memorial Park and MIDFLORIDA Event Center, the first of their kind to be provided by the City.
The flag retirement boxes were generously donated by the Gulf Iraq Afghanistan Veterans Association, founded by City Councilman David Pickett, and they quickly became a popular resource.
In the first week alone, more than 130 flags were placed in the boxes and by the end of July, 375 U. S. flags had been deposited to ensure proper disposal.
Communications team supports Summer Workshop
Summer Workshop was a busy week for the Communications Department.
The team of Ben Elliott, Avi Monina, Gus Nadasi and Andy Sangas set up video and audio equipment before the event in the Community Center, ran the technology during the two-day workshop, then broke everything down when it was over.
Great job to the team for making the workshop hum along!
