Drone as First Responder
On June 10, the department ' s new Drone as First Responder( DFR) program demonstrated its life-saving potential on the very first day of testing and evaluation.
A DFR drone was remotely deployed and arrived on scene before responding officers. Using live video capabilities, the drone quickly located a missing female and the reporting party. Drone operators maintained visual contact and directed responding officers to their exact location, allowing officers to safely reunite the female with her family before the situation could escalate into a more dangerous outcome.
Crime prevention
On June 22, the Crime Prevention Team spent time with children at Discovery Emporium, sharing important safety lessons in a fun and engaging way! The smiles, questions and excitement made for a great day of learning and building positive relationships with our future leaders.
Police Athletic League graduation
Our Police Athletic League Junior Police Academy graduated June 19.
The cadets have taken on challenges, learned new skills, built lasting friendships and gained a firsthand look at the dedication, teamwork and responsibility that come with serving others. From physical activities and team-building exercises to hands-on law enforcement experiences, these young men and women embraced every opportunity to grow.
While not every cadet may choose a career in policing, the lessons learned throughout this program— leadership, accountability, respect, perseverance and service— will help guide them throughout their lives.
