Celebrate the power of parks and recreation
National Park and Recreation Month is in July, which is a perfect time to celebrate the power of Parks and Recreation.
On June 22, Parks and Recreation Director Brad Keen accepted a proclamation from City Council affirming July is Park and Recreation Month.
In his remarks, Brad stated:“ Parks and Recreation is more than a sports league or a favorite playground. It is essential spaces that strengthen the health, happiness and well being of our community. Our parks give families a place to gather, children a place to play and residents of all ages opportunities to stay active and connected. Our programs and facilities support wellness, protect our natural resources and create a sense of belonging that defines what it means to live in Port St. Lucie.
" But beyond the physical spaces, parks and recreation bring people together. They support community pride, inspire volunteerism and create moments of joy and discovery. From summer camps and fitness classes to environmental stewardship and cultural events, these opportunities enrich lives every single day.
" This July, we’ ll celebrate not only our parks themselves, but the people who use them, who care for them and who believe in their value.”
Parks and Recreation provides the power of connection, the power of play, the power of community, the power of nature, the power of belonging and the power of well-being! Thank you for your continued support as we work to ensure every resident has access to the powerful benefits that parks and recreation provide, today, and for generations to come.
Daddy and Son Game Night
Daddy and Son Game Night, held June 13 at the Community Center, was a successful inaugural event that brought fathers and sons together for an evening of fun, friendly competition and quality time.
Participants enjoyed a variety of activities including axe throwing, chipping golf balls, football toss, cornhole, basketball, video games and a photo booth. The DJ and refreshments helped create a lively, family-friendly atmosphere. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees expressing interest in future father-son events, making the evening a great success and a strong addition to the City ' s family programming.
