Port St. Lucie honors veterans with Memorial Day events
Port St. Lucie celebrated Memorial Day weekend with two special events dedicated to honoring veterans.
On May 24, Vet Fest brought the community together with food trucks, music, military vehicle displays and a spirited 5K Ruck March. Proceeds from the inaugural event supported veterans organizations.
Two days later, we hosted a Memorial Day service at Veterans Memorial Park. The event paid tribute to fallen heroes with reflections from retired Army Col. Jon Schiff, musical performances by the Port St. Lucie Community Band and timehonored traditions, including a rifle salute and the sounding of " Taps."
The events honored veterans, offering opportunities for remembrance, appreciation and support. Residents were encouraged to reflect on the sacrifices made by service members while showing gratitude through participation and outreach.
The community showed up in force for both events, with more than 2,200 people attending the two events.
