Water Woman and Bookman team up to celebrate Water Conservation Month through literacy
Two local superheroes, Utility Systems’ Water Woman, Jenny Tomes, and Children’ s Services Council of St. Lucie County’ s Bookman, John Cesar, teamed up to celebrate Water Conservation Month through literacy with more than 1,600 St. Lucie County students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Bookman procured copies of " I Am the Rain " by John Patterson for every student at White City and Windmill Point elementary schools. Students read the book before visits from Water Woman and Bookman on April 9 and 23.
This team-up was a great opportunity for the two superheroes to discuss the importance of reading and conserving water. Together, they presented 12 times and taught the kids about simple ways they can incorporate water conservation into their daily routines. Additionally, students received super-reader capes, bookmarks, stickers and toothbrushes.
